Anointing/Sick

Forming disciples to know, love, and serve God.

The Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick can be received by any person in need of healing of body, mind, or spirit. This Sacrament: heals, forgives sin, and provides the Holy Spirit’s gifts of strength, peace, and courage. Formerly called "Last Rites" or "Extreme Unction," this Sacrament is now not restricted to those near death but is meant to impart blessing to those in need of healing.

Anointing with sacred oil provides a sign of blessing of the one who is sick and recalls the person’s connection to the entire Body of Christ. A Mass of Anointing is held annually in October. At this communal celebration, we gather the Catholic residents of our local care centers as well as those members of our Parish wanting to receive this sacrament. At other times, this Sacrament is available to individuals by contacting the Parish Office: 651-388-1133.
