Reconciliation

Forming disciples to know, love, and serve God.

Reconciliation is the Sacrament that celebrates the forgiving love of God. It is called the Sacrament of Reconciliation because through it we acknowledge and confess our sins and are reconciled to both God and one another.

At the Church of St. Joseph, children prepare for the reception of this sacrament in the second grade.  Registration and attendance in Faith Formation K-8 is required for everyone in the First Reconciliation Sacramental Preparation Program.

The new Archdiocesan guidelines for the Sacrament of Reconciliation states that, “instruction for this Sacrament must precede First Eucharist and be kept separate from it.” The purpose is to teach children the specific identity of the Sacrament of Reconciliation and to help them feel comfortable with it before receiving First Eucharist.
